The moon hung up in the sky it’s light streamed through the tree’s of the forest, Dani knew it was late at night since most of the lights in the castle had been turned off. She peaked at the last of the lights as they shut off only an hour before so she knew that the forest was free range now. As she walked the wind picked up Dani looked around hoping to see something out of place or possibly just something new, after so many years in the forest it began to look so mundane. Dani remembered when things used to scare her in here, fear wasn’t something she harbored anymore since she spent all her nights in here. She walked in silence the wind slowly bringing new smells to her ultra sensitive nose, nothing too new everything smelt just the same. Seven years at this place and two with powers it was just so mundane, granted she liked the school she always had this place was home and would always be home. Dani walked a bit further straying towards the line of trees, which separated her from lawns of Hogwarts, she lingered for a second in a patch of moon light her eyes focused on the clouds overtaking the clouds slowly. There was something hauntingly beautiful about the forest at night it may just been the moonlight, but she loved it.

As she carried on her walk, her nose caught a new smell one, which she had never noticed before. Dani looked in the direction of the smell and there was a shadowy figure walking, from what she could see they were in no hurry and seemed a bit more careful. Apparently he couldn’t read the forest was forbidden, she wasn’t the only dangerous thing in there or was she? Dani didn’t care she walked in his direction her steps were soft and very careful, of course you didn’t know Dani was behind you till well she was right there. That was the beauty of it all she could be fast and no one would know she was there, as she picked up her pace she decided to keep a distance till they stopped. She took in another deep breath they’re smell wasn’t that different, but it was still something new and much like a cat this excited her. She walked slower now her eyes focused back to the moon, it was still hanging there in the sky but now the clouds had moved and she smiled.

Dani looked in front of her and noticed whoever it was had stopped walking and was now laying down, she watched carefully she still didn’t know who they were. All she knew was they were trying to sleep so that meant there was something wrong with they’re dorm, she stood there eyes fixed on the figure who was taking in the sky. She looked behind her a thesteral stood there and then came towards she jumped back and headed for the trees, causing a small swoosh in the process. Dani never liked thestrals something about them creeped her out, she heard a tune a familiar tune. Whoops Dani had scared her visitor she looked down towards them and noticed it was a he, she swayed slightly and noticed some thesterals moving which would cause anyone fear. Dani heard him whisper come out come out, whoever you are she smiled, okay she could do for a game. With a single swift movement she landed on the ground without a sound, and with that she took off towards the tree which was next to his. Dani stood there her hair blowing in the new breeze “Right here of course” she replied her voice was soft, but there was still malice to it. Dani wasn’t intentionally evil, this is what she considered playful.

Dani stood in absolute silence after saying that, she watched him carefully. What was so strange about the whole thing is that he looked so familiar, and not like everyday face in the corridor like around the house type thing. It was strange out of all the people she had met in Hogwarts this was the first person whom she had seen that looked familiar in a family way, Dani studied his face closer and took in another deep breath. The smell once again wasn’t familiar like the face it was just so weird, she heard him speak and her dark eyes darted up to his once more “Hi” she replied her voice was still laced with a bit of malice she was now letting her thoughts take over. He looked perplexed, like he didn’t expect people to be out let alone in the forest, but then again she hadn’t expected it either the lights in the castle had been out for almost an hour and here he was sitting there staring at her. Making her question if she knew him and possibly vice versa, it was all so odd something about it made Dani roll her lip ring. In the past two years no one had dared to enter the forest after Umbridge disappeared in the fifth year, so Dani had always figured she would be safe but then again she never lingered this close to the castle.

Her eyes darted back to him when he asked if she knew the place was forbidden, Dani laughed her laugh was hallow and sounded fake almost “Yes I have been aware of that since my first year, but it has never stopped me. Rules are just guidelines for me to break, plus I’ve never been caught.” she replied looking at his smirk she could tell like her he was haughty and there was some bravado to his smirk. Was he looking for something else like that she was bored and left her bed, her thinking stopped when he threw another question at her “I could ask you the same thing. You are aware that there dangerous things in here right?” she threw back at him. She didn’t have to explain herself, there was no reason being that well it was not his business what her reasons were. Dani had never been the type of person to answer questions, this was something that was innate in her even more so since her fourth year.

Dani read the expression on his face she could tell he was trying to figure out who she was, and she was doing the same. It was odd because she didn’t know that many people and let alone all contact in the family had been broken since her dad left her mom. Then again he could be related to her father and she wasn’t aware of it, that’s what made her think. It would be rare because everyone on her father’s side was a death eater and she didn’t remember children, but then again some members were disowned. Dani knew little of her family and she didn’t plan to find out more about it since who wants a niece, cousin, aunt, who was a vampire? Not many that was for sure unless she had missed something at some party or whatever. Her eyes darted back to his face and then back to the direction that she came from, she smelt something it was familiar but she wasn’t going to alarm him she just looked back at him. Dani raised an eyebrow she heard what he had said Where is she from, though it was barely above a whisper she heard it and wondered where did they know each other from. “You know I was just thinking that, where are you from?” she asked looking at him, Dani knew he would think it was weird she heard him but who cared he was in too deep.

She looked over at him once more By the way he said her eyes focused on him, he asked another question this one was simple her name. Dani smirked “Danielle Cullen and you are?” she asked gracefully walking over to another tree, just as gracefully as she had walked and jumped out of the tree she sat before him. Her eyes were now focused on his and she could see it, she did know him and this wasn’t they’re first meeting. Dani blinked she finally realized that they had met a party many years ago and they were kids, small kids amazingly she couldn’t remember his parents and they’re relationship with hers; who was he?

Jess wasn’t the only one who was examining the other person; she too was doing the same thing. He guessed she was thinking the same thing. He a sigh clue. Either a family friend or a family member. Thinking about that, he gulped something that was stuck in his throat. A family member? Can that even be possible? Most of his family members were somewhat close. That last time, he was reunited with them was at his mother’s funeral. Jess had remembered the faces that came and hers was not one of them. This dudette must have been a long distant family member. Still though she could have been his father’s or mother’s friend’s daughter. Perhaps they moved or someone got into an argument and that was the end of it.

He watched as she rolled her lip-ring. “Must have been painful” he said in his head. He wanted one or more lip-ring but he was unsure about that choice. But on his last birthday, he got his tongue pierce which was a big mistake for him because everything wasn’t too easy. The way he talked sounded like there was something was in his mouth which was the problem. He hated how ninety percent of the time, his food would get stuck near the piercing. It was going to change; he was going to have it removed and get his tongue back. But lip-rings were a different story. Wouldn’t that be permanent? Also there must have been many complications such as health issues.

Plus I’ve never been caught. “Really” he told her, it wasn’t a question. Why, he was not shocked at all. The professors wouldn’t dare come to the forbidden forest? Why was that? Too lazy or too scared? Or they did check out the place but this female was very sneaky unlike him. If he got out of things, it would be his luck. I could ask you the same thing. You are aware that there dangerous things in here right? Jess ignored the first thing she said. “Like what?” he asked her. She was older than he was, maybe it was better if she explained it since it seemed like she was usually here. The moon was out, it was there. Who could miss it? It was big and bright yellow. But not like the color of cheese.

Where are you from? Ugh, she heard him. “Ummm...California?” he chuckled. Was she talking about location? Because Jess wasn’t. He was thinking of where he had seen her. It was a really long time and well she grew but still had a look that he remembered. Ding. A light bulb magically appeaerd near his head but that was probably his imagination. The sixth year Hufflepuff used to have a lot of birthday bashes and that was when he met the girl. He was opening his present that his uncle had bought him. It was a toy ducky but then a girl just stood in front of him doing nothing but staring down while he was sitting. His mother forced him to hang out with the other kids that came but he didn’t. Every one of them was talking or playing with each other except for two. Him and another person, that girl. “That was it!” he snapped “you're her”.

Danielle Cullen and you are? Jess had turned his back but he had heard something that made his eyes close. “Jess” he paused “Cullen”. He was facing away from her. How could this be? He knew that he didn’t have any sisters, well that he knew of. His father was always with his mother. He wouldn’t dare to be unfaithful to her, it just wasn’t him. But he did remember his mother talking to another lady who had a daughter with the same name. What the heck was going on? That lady was his aunt, so that must mean that Danielle is his cousin. “Y-Y-You’re my c-c-c-cousin” he stuttered, shocked looking at her while she was sitting on a tree. Long time, no see.

His eyes narrowed. Someone else was there also, he could tell. Glancing at the trees, something stood out. He spotted another lovely female but with blonde hair. Who was she? Was she a student at Hogwarts also or someone off campus? Turning his head back to Danielle, “A friend of yours?” he asked her but not pointing, but looking back towards the girl’s direction.

Aw how the young Cullen boy wished he could read people’s mind. If only he knew what everyone was thinking, that would be quite interesting. How long was she there? Awkward if she was here the whole time. Pretty slick though, he thought. This girl that he didn’t know, looked different from other girls at school or anywhere he's been. Both her and Danielle. His skin tone was pale but there’s are really really pale as if they were ghosts. Are they zombies? Could this all be a dream? Jess quickly pinched himself. He couldn’t wake up from this since it was no dream. He was fully awake and felt the tiny pinch on his arm.

How unexpected, she thought, still listening. Actually, this wasn't as enteraining as she thought it was going to be, it was like watching people in the hallways all over again, babbleing about junk that she didn't care about. She could just climb down and take off in the oposite direction and find some poor animal to kill. Hmm, this option seemed must more appealing then hiding out in the tree. But the she liked hiding the tree's, when it was something like watching the Centaurs talking about how many kills the vampires had made. They are quite big gossipers when they think no one's around, constantly talking about the students.

She was just about to climb down and walk off when she heard Danielle say something about vampires being in the forest. This interested her somewhat, maybe they'd speak of something they had heard. So she stayed in the tree climbing higher slightly but silently, well as silent as the tree would allow. She was hoping of passing it off as the wind with the way she moved avoiding the leaves quite well, but they stil rustled around her.

She stayed listening a little while, but then she saw Jess' eyes flicker over to her, obviously he must've seen the leaves move, and then her attempting to climb. She rolled her eyes and jumped down from the tree, she wasn't that high up really, she landed on her feet, but leaned her back against the tree, she raised her eyebrow slightly as he pinched himself. Quite odd, she thought, people don't normally go around pinching themselves after they find people hiding in the tree's, at least not that she knew of, but she was still silent.

Dani studied his face, she didn’t see much terror in it when she mentioned the vampires. Actually that looked like intrigue which was well different, maybe it wouldn’t be so hard to tell him. Then again her mother did leave her father over this whole vampire matter, Dani let out a sigh she didn’t really miss her mother this was just different. Dani looked over at him as he pretended to be scared, “You really should be” she replied, the reply itself wasn’t as she hoped it would come out but the thought of her mother made her feel different. Her eyes scanned the area around them it felt so weird to find out she had family, let alone someone so close it was hard to miss. Like Dani had known all her life the knowledge of other family members was something she didn’t know to much about, due to the fact her and her father were always so reclusive.

It was this thought of family that made her wonder about they’re past, here they were sitting face to face and the only image she could conjure of him was a little boy at a party. This little boy was nothing like the little girl next to him, he was quiet and very sad looking; Then again he was being teased. Dani rolled her lip rings in thought, he was being teased and she took a stand to make sure it would stop. That was where the memory blended into days at the beach and little things with other members of her family, which she had no recent memory of. Dani looked up suddenly when he mentioned the party, “Yes it was a stupid a party, and those kids they were foul little rats weren’t they?” she replied her reply wasn’t really suppose to be a question, but she figured he was thinking the same thing as her. They had been pretty mean to him and well they did deserve whatever they had coming to them, which Dani at the moment couldn’t remember if she had pushed them or what not. It was his birthday or was it, well whatever it had been no one had deserved to mess with him in that way.

Now that Dani thought about it, her cousin could be a reclusive person too much like most Cullen’s. Merely everyone just chose to stay out of each other’s way, some of course had been disowned for reasons unknown to her. She looked up at him ”I don’t know you tell me?” there was a pause and then he spoke once more ” “you stood up for me while those kids were planning to hurt me, remember?”. She did remember all too clearly, granted a few parts were hazy but it was enough “Well I do, not the fine details, the question is what do we do from here?” she asked her eyes drifted over to Harlyn who had now joined them at ground level. She looked up at him as he reassured her nothing was wrong, yeah like she was going to believe that. It was way too cold for mosquitoes he must have felt cornered, when he became defensive “You’re the one pinching yourself as if this was a dream, something on your mind you care to share?” she asked raising her eyebrow.

You really should be. He heard the warning. Could that really be? Vampires near Hogwarts or even students attending? He remembered hearing about one of the previous professors of Defense Against the Dark Arts is a werewolf but he quit. Thinking about it, what was wrong with that? Indeed he could be dangerous but he took something that made him control himself. It would be pretty interesting if there were wizards who were also something else. Everyone attends Hogwarts for the same reason, to learn how to do magic. So what’s the big deal? Hmm..perhaps some students would be afraid but they could learn just to deal with it. No problem. “Ha!” he coughed ”where are they then?”

Well I do, not the fine details, the question is what do we do from here? Jess was completely clueless. What was she asking for? Friendship or enemies or what? He was confused. “What do you mean?” he asked her his eyebrow flew up. Wow that’s been happening a lot especially tonight in the forbidden forest. How long were they there? It seems about an hour or something. Well, as fun as this is, I'm going to take off. “Erm..okay. Bye” he told the other girl that he didn’t know. Watching as she left, he noticed that she was quite fast. Where was she heading? Maybe back inside the castle or someplace else during this night with the moon fully visible.

People say there are no such things as stupid questions but when a person asks something, it’s suddenly dumb. Why not try, he thought. “Well…I am curious about something” he told Danielle. Biting his lip out of nervousness, he decided to just spit it out. “Why are you two different?” he was referring to the blond hair female that left a while ago. He knew that he couldn’t be the only one who noticed the difference and it wasn’t makeup that he was talking about.

Well I’m not sure, but I do know they are here. Jess nodded his head. If they were here, then why didn’t they appear? There were two students in the forest talking. Couldn’t that brought them out to see what was going on? If he heard something, he wouldn’t runaway from it he would try to find out what it is instead. He wasn’t afraid of things like others were. The feeling of not being scared, it made him better. There are tons of scary things out in the world but you can’t be scared of everything, some stuff aren’t so bad. “Hmm...” he said while taking a look of the forest and then began walking. It wasn’t good just standing for too long. His leg might fall asleep.

I meant to say if you and I are gonna catch up and possibly hang out? Hehe. Imagining himself having tea seemed pretty funny. The truth is, Jess wasn’t really a people person. He would usually keep to himself and people never really noticed him at all. He was just a dude that was quiet and liked reading a lot. He’s nice but it depends since his mood changes a lot. “Sounds good” he told her smiling “I’m up for it”. Catching-up, there were a lot of things. How long was it since they last seen each other...it’s been a while. This family thing was coming to something, hopefully something good.

Different how? How could he explain it? Their skin was way pale and a full moon is out. It could it all just be a coincident. “Umm…I don’t know” he said thinking of the words to say “you two don’t seem like the other girls at Hogwarts or anywhere else I’ve been to”. His eyes fell to the ground, he felt stupid. What was he thinking? He should have let it go. How could they be werewolves, zombies, or even vampires? Must have been those books Jess was reading.
