Narcissa looked even more worried now but then she said "but Severus you yourself seem doubtful of your position if Im right. I can tell by your voice. And you can block it from him I know you."

"And what if he decides to read your thoughts? Just because I can doesn't mean he won't bother reading others and I try not to hide the truth to the Dark Lord. He's a very talented Occlumencer himself." Severus slid her tea towards Narcissa since she did not take it and took a drink from his cup.
"And where my position is, is not for you to decide. I get that enough with the other Death Eaters," He said, his face showing the look of irritation. He watch her become more worrisome about the situation and sighs. "You're under stress...you know perfectly well there's nothing I can do to change the status of your family. If you wish to continue on, I will not tell. Pray...that the Lord will not show his wrath on either of us if he knew."

Narcissa looked out the window that was on the far side of the room. She didnt know what to say. She was so confused she thought Snape was the right one to talk to about this but now she wasnt so sure. She knew she would just have to keep her thoughts conceled from the Dark Lord. The punishment if he found out would be much worse then simple death itself.

Severus watched her closely, leaning back in his seat. This was for her own safety, he thought. He knew how she must be feeling, unable to speak openly, always under careful watch, the pressure must've finally gotten to her. "...Please understand why I am telling you this." He said quietly. There was nothing he could do to ease her thoughts, she would have to bare it...only for another year hopefully.
Getting out of his seat, he walked over to her and held her hand for comfort. "I am sorry I was not what you have expected of me," He said, as if he had read her thoughts. "But I am still and will continue to be a friend to your family..." He was careful with his choice of words. As much as he felt sympathy for the family, he could not pull himself into their mess or risk revealing himself.

Narcissa looked up at him and said "thank you Severus." She then looked back to the window and said "well we better move this conversation to another topic before anyone comes."

He places a hand on her shoulder. "...Why don't we go outside then? You look like you could use a little fresh air." Severus quietly suggested. He was glad that they were not to continue discussing her family's situation. It would've probably ended very badly if they did and was happy to change the topic.

Narcissa nodded and said "yeah definately." She lead the way out of the room down the stairs and out onto the lawn.

Even though the family was in disarray, their large yard certainly did not show it. It was well kept, a variety of garden plants were flourishing. What's beautiful outside can have parasites within. " Your yard seems as vibrant as ever" He says, placing an arm around her shoulders.
Severus watch as the albine peacock crossed their path and look curiously up at them. It seem to look mournful. "...I suppose you've been alone a lot lately haven't you?" He asks calmly.

"Yes I have been and very often actually" she said this with an air of sadness in her voice. "lucius is no where to be found and draco is always in and out." She looked around the vast yard as if in search of her husband.
