That same ear-piercing shriek came from the hallway again. Harry knew all too well who it was; Sirius Black's mother, moaning that there were vermin in her house once again. The person she was shrieking at was not clear, however, because according to Mrs. Black, anyone not of pure-blood was filth. And, quite frankly, Harry didn't know many pure bloods. Neither of the two Gryffindors were, obviously. Nor were many members of the Order of the Phoenix, for that matter. Green eyes shot around the room and up the staircase, whoever the intruder was, Harry felt that it wasn't one with good intentions.
A deep frown encased the teens face as he scraped his mind for things to do. They could apparate now, of course. But Harry wondered whether confronting the person would be in their best interests. Being in that house, actually, was not in their best interests. But, if the person was someone dangerous, which Harry Potter was pretty certain that it was, confrontation would not be a good idea. But, if they did not, they'd certainly never catch up in time. And letting him go could be just as, if not more, dangerous than choosing to fight.
The dark haired wizard glanced back at Hermione. The last thing he had ever wanted to do was put her in danger. However, to him, just being there was dangerous to her. Even though he knew Hermione Granger would argue that statement. He watched her for a moment, a convincing expression upon his handsome facial features.
They'd have to Apparate after all...
"Hold on to my hand." He asked of her in a commanding, slightly impatient way. If there was one thing he wasn't, it was patient. Hermione was smart enough, Harry decided, to know exactly what he was preparing to do.

As Hermione continued to walk behind Harry she knew that it was really no use. They couldn't keep following like this. Whoever this was really didn't want to be caught. She knew that if they were going to catch whoever this was that they couldn't continue on like this. She was out of idea's though. She really didn't know what to do, but they couldn't let this person get away. Hermione herself wanted to know who it was, and more importantly what they were doing in here.
Hermione did as Harry told her too, and grabed his hand. She wasn't really sure what exactly he was going to do, even though the most logical thing she could think of would be that he was going to apperate them up there to catch whoever this was. She trusted Harry, and knew that he knew what exactly he was doing.

<Snapperz wanted me to post again, so I am. ^^>
The boy suddenly became aware of how sweaty his hand was when Hermione took hold of it. Firm and strong, showing that she really believed in him. Harry was fairly sure that his fellow Gryffindor had a pretty good idea of what he was going to do. However, looking back into her eyes once more, he wasn't so sure anymore. Green eyes forced themselves away from brown, before he looked back up hastily at the staircase. If he wasted any more time being dramatic, the perpetrator would surely escape into one of the many rooms at the top flight, and it was likely that they wouldn't be able to find him...or her...or whatever.
Harry felt a sharp pain run through him as he squeezed his eyes shut, Apparating them up the stairs. He wasn't exactly totally experienced in this art, but he was fairly confident in his abilities. Maybe it would have been a better idea to have Hermione zap them up herself. Too late now.
The boy's eyes re-opened as he felt his feet touch down on solid ground again. His face melted into something of a disbelieving and shocked expression.
No way...

There was a crack, and Severus has apparated himself to the very top floor of #12, leaning onto the wall with a look of shock on his face. He had made a rush to the second set of stairs when he heard a crack of someone apparating behind him. He only assume it was the House Elf Kreacher only to see out of the corner of his eye something that cause him to aburptly disapparate the moment the two people had appeared on the second floor.
Glasses...green eyes...Potter was here. Potter and if he remember faintly, Granger with her bushy brown hair waving in the air. He had only hope he had made himself scarce fast enough before Potter or Granger could figure out what they thought they saw. If it was someone else...anyone else then Potter he could've taken them down and continue what he was doing. But just his luck, he gets Harry Potter, the boy connected to the Dark Lord.
He slowly got up and crept over near the stairway keeping a distance from the edge. Thinking fast, he whipped his wand at the stairwell muttering a spell. The stairs seem to creak eerily, he had setup a barrier that only Death Eaters can cross. He would not allow them to watch or capture him. He can answer the Dark Lord to why he was there later if he ever found out. He was so close now, he would not be stop now. Thankfully they did not know which floor he had apparated onto.
He walked quickly down the hall, reading off the name plates that were on the doors and finally came to a halt in front of the door with the nameplate "Sirius". Grasping the doorknob, he turned it and entered the room of Sirius Black.
